Join us for last Planning and Committee Meeting Friday, April 16, 2010, 6 – 9p.m., Kuch Hospitality Suite Arcadia University, 450 S. Easton Road, Glenside, PA The 6th Annual Black Male Development Symposium will be held Saturday, May 15, 2010, at Arcadia University, 450 South Easton Road, Glenside, PA. The symposium title for this year is: WMD: Weapons of Mass Distraction: The Three R’s for the Future: How do we help our youth Refocus, Redefine and Revitalize their priorities? As you are well aware this type of effort takes a tremendous amount of physical, spiritual and monetary support. We have a large supply of the physical and spiritual support we are still in need of a little more support on the monetary level. There are several opportunities still available for you to assist the BMDS effort, please attend the meeting and learn more about them.

Rites-of-Passage: A Pro-Active Strategy for the African American Community
There are a slew of issues that assault the African American community on a daily basis, among them: racism, sexism, violence, materialism, media bombardment, mis-education, pseudo-religious indoctrination, drug addiction, unwanted pregnancies, the HIV/AIDS pandemic, the mis-diagnosis of youth and adults with ADD / ADHD and various health-related disorders.
To address these issues, all of which are a result of over 385 years of perpetual domestic terrorism in the US, the African American community must take on the task and challenge to be more than just basic and average. Mediocrity will not suffice. We must not only think and speak of excellence but also exemplify it, and prepare ourselves and our children to achieve it. Here is where The Frator Heru Institute (TFHI) Rites-of-Passage (ROP) has proven to be a pivotal and critical initiative over the last 20 years.
